Logans Birth | Geelong Birth Photography

I was lucky enough to be able to witness the birth story of Logan.

On Wednesday morning I received a phone call letting me know labour had started and she was in the early stages. I triple checked I had everything ready and rang my babysitter to let her know what was happening. Kristy and I messaged back and fourth for the whole day, her keeping me updated and me checking in.

At 9.30pm I received a message from her husband Ed letting me know her waters had broken and the doula was on her way to their place. As this was my first birth I left straight away, I wanted to make sure I didn’t miss it. I arrived and the house was so dark. I was so excited and nervous, hoping my hours and hours of research and skills would be enough. Labour was progressing but slowly. Kristy got into the bath for pain relief as she was attempting to have a water birth at home after two caesarean sections. Many hours went by and Kristy went from the bath to the shower and back to the bath.

It got to 7.30 in the morning and contractions started to become irregular. After a few hours of bearing down and over 27 hours of labour Kristy and Ed decided it was best to go to the hospital and get checked.

We got to the hospital and it seemed everything just went so quickly. Kristy ended up having to have an emergency caesarean section for various reasons.

Logan was born at 9.15am weighing in at a whooping 10 pound 3 ounces and 57cm long!!!!!!
